The energy density of lithium iron phosphate batteries is lower than that of ordinary lithium-ion batteries, but it has better safety, longer life, higher temperature resistance, and lower cost. Another disadvantage is that the low-temperature characteristics are worse than lithium-ion batteries, and it is not easy to estimate the battery power at low temperatures.
At present, due to low cost (no cobalt required) and high safety, lithium iron phosphate batteries are mostly used as power batteries for electric vehicles.
